Incorporating humor, mainstream vernacular and 239 hand-crafted gold bricks Gotta Make Money to Make Money toys with our idea of value. Reacting to the context for this body of work, both the title and objects are inspired by hip hop culture — an art form notorious for talking about cash, money and bitches. With a background in event design and marketing, I’m influenced by the pop-up temporality and perception of value created within retail environments.
